The benefits from Running

I just want to start off by saying that I know running isn't for everyone. But, when I started to run, I hated it too.

Obviously because my endurance was terrible. I decided to stick with it and kept pushing myself. Before I knew it I was able to run 1 mile with out resting. This distance may seem like a lot or a little (depending on who reads this). For me, it was an accomplishment. Now, I'm able to run up to 2 miles continuously. Each time I choose to push myself a little bit more to continue to build my endurance.

I fell in love with running, it's like therapy for me (while I listen to my music of course). I've also learned the different benefits running can offer us. Some of them I think are worth sharing!

Cardiovascular Health

Running helps improve our cardiovascular health. Meaning, this exercise increases our heart rate by pumping more blood towards the muscles in action. With time and practice we can build our cardiovascular health, and we'll soon be able to run longer distances.

Helps build muscle strength

Running consistently can strengthen our legs, core and upper body. Meaning it's a complete full body workout. Although like any exercise, It's important that we eat enough protein if we want to strengthen our muscles.

Increase in bone density

High-impact activities (running) can place stresses on bones that stimulate them to adapt by laying down more minerals within the bony matrix to strengthen the structure. Running also increases the production of bone-building hormones in the body. Stronger bones are more tough and are less likely to be fractured.

Running lowers stress levels

This exercise can lower our stress hormones and cortisol, which helps us feel more relaxed. I've definitely noticed that running has allowed me to spend a moment with myself and I'm able to shut my anxious thoughts off. Which is why I believe it can be therapeutic.

These are just a few benefits running can bring into our lives. There are so many more. I can also say, my confidence has grown ever since I started running. If you are thinking about including running into your workout routine, this is your sign! I love it. ;)
