The way we perceive food changes the game.


 




Once we begin our fitness journey it's important to see food as our friend. Sometimes we can fall into the habit of feeling guilty for not eating a certain way. But food is a gift and it's one of the most important aspects of this journey. So the quicker we see food in a positive way, the quicker the process becomes much easier!

 

Diets

I wouldn't recommend.

I feel like when we all start our fitness journey we think that we have to do certain diets to be "fit". I went down that path and it made my relationship with food unhealthy.

Knowing I had to eat certain foods and stay away from others, only made the process harder. My brain automatically craved the other foods much more! I'm pretty sure it has something to do with psychology.





Anyway, if we're able to eat foods that nourish our body out of pure choice, it becomes a lifestyle and we can enjoy the process way more!



Healthy eating doesn't have to taste bad. It's actually quite yummy! We just have to get a bit creative...

 

Goals

First step is for us to define our goals with fitness and healthy eating. What we eat has the same importance as working out does.

So first we need to know what our goals are and that way, it's easier to find out what foods to eat.




If we get to know our goals than we'll know what foods we need to nourish our bodies properly. So I say, having knowledge of our goals, will make our fitness journey much more clear.


Getting inspired by a mentor is of BIG help, but it's important we do our own research too!


There's a science behind eating in the fitness world, now, I'm no expert but I have learned a few things throughout the years.


If we're trying to lose fat then we should eat in a caloric deficit, if we're trying to bulk/build muscle then we need to eat more calories (in a clean way of course), or maybe we just want to eat healthy, as I said, it depends on our personal goals!


Remember, knowing our goals makes it much easier and possible to achieve them!


 

Enjoy

Life's about enjoying it, even when it comes to eating! Personally, food is something I love, especially deserts! I'm a sucker for a good brownie! Pretty much anything that has chocolate in it, lol.


Starting my fitness journey I thought I had to eliminate one of the things I enjoyed most in life. Which made the process much harder and not possible for me.


With the right information and defining my goals, I came to find out that everything is possible! There are so many ways to eat what we're craving in a healthier way.


I've discovered a few recipes that have made this process much more pleasant for me. So one thing I do recommend is finding recipes we can enjoy. There are so many out there!



But it all comes down to our relationship with food, we just have to remind ourselves that food is on our side during this journey! :)
